I..
finally met the end, it slowly
became an established fact
when I said -I’m done- and
watched the doctor react.
Averted eyes, my tears run wild.
I grip a leg, but it’s to no avail,
an attempt for comfort, strength,
my flesh never felt this frail.
Too long have I let it run its course.
A widening hole totally obscured
by welcomed distractions aplenty
-It takes time- she said, rest assured.
One breath quietly follows another
under this duvet, my limited world
out there can wait, I shouldn’t rush
until then I rest here, curled.
I know it doesn’t feel like it now, but you did what needed to be done for yourself. Now first rest, sleep, cry if need be…and when you are ready to get back up and out again; we will talk, plan, try and plot a better course. And even if you need to do the work, even if you are the only one that can make things better. I will be there; cheering you on, loudly as well as silently…it’s a lonely road, but you will not be alone! Xxxx
